Forbes: 9 / 10 by Paul Tassi
Though in theory, an “endgame” playthrough of Diablo 4 is probably 100-200 hours across a larger span of classes, I feel like I can judge what I’ve seen. My impressions are overwhelmingly positive based on what I’ve experienced so far, from the map to the gameplay to the new systems to even the story, which I was not expecting. Blizzard really seems like they’ve nailed this, and I’m going to say the only way this will be poorly received at launch is if technical issues kill people’s ability to play. But once it gets rolling? Yes, I think you’re going to like Diablo 4.
IGN: 9 / 10 by Travis Northup
Diablo 4 is a stunning sequel with near perfect endgame and progression design that makes it absolutely excruciating to put down.
VideoGamer: 10 / 10 by Ford James
Diablo 4 feels like the apex of the series, bringing together everything great about the previous entries. It isn't without its minor flaws, and the success of the endgame content is still up in the air, but for once Diablo has a gripping story, phenomenal graphics, and a gameplay loop that doesn't innovate too much but is certainly better than its predecessor.
The main pros of the game
- Graphics and Visuals: Many users praised the stunning graphics and immersive environments, highlighting the game's dark and atmospheric aesthetic.
- Voice Acting and Sound Design: The quality of voice acting and overall sound design received positive mentions.
- Skill Customization: Players appreciated the skill customization options available for character builds.
- Campaign Storyline: Some users found the main campaign engaging and enjoyable, with a captivating lore and interesting characters.
- Cross-Platform Play: The ability to play on different platforms and utilize both mouse and keyboard or controller was noted as a positive feature.
The main cons of the game
- Level Scaling: Many players felt that the level scaling made the process of leveling up feel trivial and diminished the excitement of facing challenging enemies.
- Repetitive Gameplay: Users frequently mentioned the repetitive nature of the gameplay, especially after completing the main story, leading to boredom.
- Microtransactions and Monetization: There were complaints about aggressive monetization practices, including microtransactions, a battle pass system, and the high cost of expansions.
- Technical Issues: Many players reported frequent crashes, connection issues, and bugs that hindered the gameplay experience.
- Lack of Depth in Character Development: Some users criticized the limited skill trees and lack of meaningful character progression options compared to other ARPGs.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Offline Mode: A significant number of players expressed frustration over the requirement for a constant online connection, which they felt was unnecessary for a single-player experience.
- More Engaging Endgame Content: Users suggested that the game lacks substantial endgame content and variety, leading to a grindy experience without meaningful rewards.
- Diverse Itemization: Many players noted that the itemization felt shallow, with too many items becoming irrelevant quickly, reducing the excitement of loot drops.
- Class Balance and Diversity: Some reviews pointed out issues with class balance, particularly with the introduction of overpowered DLC classes, which overshadowed others and affected gameplay dynamics.
- More Challenging Boss Fights: Players expressed disappointment in the lack of challenge in boss encounters, finding them to be boring and unengaging.
Summary
- Overall, while Diablo IV has received praise for its graphics, story, and casual accessibility, it has faced substantial criticism for its gameplay mechanics, monetization strategies, and technical issues, leading to a mixed reception among players.

Diablo IV Description
Diablo IV is the fourth installment of an iconic series of hack'n'slash games. It was developed by Blizzard Entertainment, the creators of the series, as well as games such as World of Warcraft, StarCraft II and Hearthstone.
Plot
The game is set in a bleak fantasy land known as Sanctuary. Once again, it is thrown into chaos due to a new threat, which can only be faced by the playable characters. The main villain is the demoness Lilith, once the creator of Sanctuary, returned to the mortal world from an eon-long exile through a dark ritual.
Mechanics
The game is built on the foundations of previous installments. Diablo 4 is a classic hack'n'slash. The camera is isometric, while the gameplay revolves around exploring the world, gathering items, completing quests and battling hordes of enemies with various weapons and special abilities.
The game starts with choosing a character class; five were available at the time of release, with more promised later on. The Sorcerer can manipulate elements, hurl lightning bolts, pierce enemies with icicles and call down meteor swarms. The Barbarian relies on physical strength, ravaging enemies from up-close with an extensive arsenal of weaponry. The Druid can transform into a bear or a werewolf, being accompanied by forest animals during battle. Their magic channels the forces of nature themselves. The Necromancer can resurrect undead hordes to assist them in battle. The Rogue specializes in ranged combat, venoms and poisons. Just like in Diablo III, the classes don't have an assigned gender while our character's appearance can be freely customized.
An important part of the game is the character growth system. Each class has a unique skill tree, with their combat capabilities enhanced by unlocking perks, skill points, runes and legendary loot.
The game's world is composed of two main layers. The surface is reminiscent of MMO games. It's a large, constant, online world large groups of players can move around. After completing our first campaign playthrough, we also unlock PvP zones where we can face other players. Dungeons, on the other hand, are instanced. They're closed-off, randomly generated, separate worlds which can fit a few people at once.
Technical aspects
The game offers a grim, brutal atmosphere with horror elements. After the cartoonish artstyle of the third game, the developers decided to take inspiration from Diablo II.
The game isn't playable offline. Due to the game's world resembling an MMORPG design-wise, a constant internet connection is mandatory even when playing alone.
