GamingTrend: 85 / 100 by Ron Burke
With a few new zones and bounties, there's more to tackle beyond the new class and Challenge Rift. With luck, and the upcoming Season 11, there's plenty of reasons to come back to Diablo III. The Necromancer is a bit of a work in progress currently, but it's a fantastic addition that fits nicely into the pantheon of fighters and casters.
Game Revolution: 4 / 5 by Jonathan Leack
The Necromancer has returned with a well-composed concoction of nostalgic skills and modern design. It's a flashy addition to an already strong roster of classes in Diablo 3 that, while held back by two minor missteps, deserves the attention of Diablo veterans and new players alike.
IGN: 8.5 / 10 by T.J. Hafer
When the bones hit the dirt, I'd rank the Necromancer highly in terms of sheer fun factor and uniqueness when compared to Diablo 3's other classes. I do feel like $15 might be a bit much to simply unlock a new class, especially when so much of the new stuff in this patch (like some new areas for adventure mode) is being released for free. If it's within your budget, though, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the new playstyles and crazy strategies Rise of the Necromancer brings to Sanctuary.

Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer Description
Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer for PC, PS4 and XONE for is an expansion for Diablo III, announced in November 2016 during the annual BlizzCon, a Blizzard fans convent organized by the company itself. It is not a large expansion, but a small add-on introducing a new hero – Necromancer, as well as numerous cosmetic additions. The add-on was released for both PC and console versions of the game.
Plot
Rise of the Necromancer introduces a new playable character class – the titular Necromancers, known as the Priests of Rathma. The school decided to respond to the Sanctuary’s call, ending their training in the depths of Kehjistan jungle, which had teached them to maintain the balance between life-giving and deathly powers.
Mechanics
The necromancer, whose gender can be choosen at the beginning of the game, has control over a special school of magic, drawn from the power of death. Their power stems from blood and bone – raw materials of life, and they can use it to tip the balance of life and death, and create living dead that answer their call. Diablo III Necromancer is based on D2 one – even if the add-on doesn’t introduce all the abilities known from the previous installment, that version of the hero was the main inspiration for the developers. The player can make use of a spectacular Corpse Explosion, a ranged Bone Spear, summon skeletons, Siphon Blood from his enemies, or use Blood Rush for short-range teleportation.
Additionally, the new hero has his dedicated legendary items and sets, and an in-game pet. The add-on also introduces more character slots, a portrait frame, pennant, banner, and a unique sigil, as well as two additional stash tabs for PC version.
Technical Aspects
Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer is not a standalone release – PC users need Diablo III with Reaper of Souls, while console users need Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition.
