A sequel to a humorous real-time strategy, Mushroom Wars, that came out in 2009 for PC and mobile platforms. The action of Mushroom Wars 2 takes us to a fantasy universe where four factions of small creatures that live in mushroom-like homes constantly war with each other. The player’s task, as the general of a “mushroom” army, is to eliminate the enemy as quickly as possible by taking over strategic points on the map.

NintendoWorldReport: 7.5 / 10 by John Rairdin
Mushroom Wars is a fun take on the real-time strategy genre that would be perfect for portable play if it weren't for some technical issues. Pacing can be a real annoyance, especially early on, but gradually fades as you progress further into the game. On the bright side, it is simple to learn, and its bite-sized levels are very addicting once you get going.
Cubed3: 6 / 10 by David Lovato
Beautiful music and cute, unique visuals aren't enough to save Mushroom Wars 2 from its flaws.
GameSpace: 7.4 / 10 by Steven Weber
Mushroom Wars 2 is definitely an excellent title for the RTS fan, even if you don't find mushrooms particularly appealing. The character designs are pleasing, the various multiplayer options are enjoyable, and the difficulty settings will keep you coming back for more. My main gripes here, are primarily due to the control scheme, which I feel could have been better utilized on the switch that is built with touchscreen controls. While the controller is necessary to play the switch in docked mode, Mushroom Wars 2 screams to be played in a mobile environment and having the option to have a more touch-focused control scheme, at least for a single player, would have been ideal.
Mushroom Wars 2 Description
Mushroom Wars 2 for PC, XONE and etc. is a sequel to Mushroom Wars, a 2009’s real-time strategy game that, despite very humorous and unusual approach to the genre, was well-received by the playing community, both on mobile platforms as well as PC and consoles. The title was developed by Creat Studio in cooperation with Zillion Whales.
Mechanics
The action of Mushroom Wars 2 takes us to the universe we know from the original, where four factions of small creatures that live in mushroom-like homes wage fierce war with one another. The players assume the role of generals of one of the “mushroom” armies, and their task is to eliminate the competition as quickly as possible by taking over strategic points on the map. The general concept remained the same. We have four slightly different races to choose from, all supported by heroes with unique special abilities. While playing, we have to expand our village with buildings that provide various bonuses and watchtowers, recruit an army, enhance weapons, and take over enemy structures to gradually achieve domination on the map. Compared to classical RTS titles, most typical mechanics of the genre were limited to the minimum, and the battles, designed with e-sport competition in mind, are incredibly fast, usually taking no longer than 5-10 minutes to resolve.
Game modes
Mushroom Wars 2 for PC, XONE and etc. offers a similar selection of game modes to its predecessor. There are four solo campaigns (one for each race) and a skirmish mode with up to three computer enemies. Dynamic, multiplayer PvP competition remains at the core of the title, though. Apart from a classical free-for-all matches, we can also play two versus two. The production also features online leagues and weekly special challenges.
Technical aspects
Mushroom Wars 2 for PC, XONE and etc. features strongly humorous visual style, similar to its predecessor. The action is observed from an isometric camera. The graphics are more detailed and varied in comparison with the original which makes the sequel present equally well on small screens of mobile devices as well as big screens of TVs.
