An online fantasy strategy game, in which the players can build their own settlement and raise an army to conquer enemy villages and repel other players' attacks. In order to succeed, one has to erect defensive structures that protect his or her settlement after logging out. The game strongly emphasizes starting the titular clans in order to receive ally support.

Clash of Clans for AND and iOS is a social strategy game with a fantasy setting, in which players get to build their own settlement and protect its walls from their opponents. The game has been developed by the Finnish studio called Supercell, also known for creating the economic strategy game called Hay Day. Clash of Clans was initially released exclusively for iOS devices; nonetheless, the game's commercial success and the opportunity to seize the Asian market encouraged the developers to release the game for Android as well.

Mechanics

Upon starting the game, the player receives a bit of land with a Town Hall, some gold, and a portion of special potion. The player is tasked with expanding his or her settlement and creating a powerful army able to face the forces controlled by opposing players. In order to accomplish that, one has to erect different structures (both economic and military), recruit soldiers, and strengthen settlement's defenses. Players get at their disposal 10 different unit types (barbarians, mages, dragons, etc.), each one with a unique skillset, while each building has several possible upgrade levels.

Gameplay revolves around battles waged against players from all over the world – to keep things more challenging, the game matches players in accordance with their experience level. After a successful raid on an enemy settlement, players receive gold and the aforementioned potion allowing them to upgrade their structures and units even faster. Of course, one's village can be attacked by other players – this can also happen to your settlement after you log out. This is why it is extremely important to develop sufficient defensive structures such as defense towers, cannons, mortars, and traps, all of which protect your base while you are gone.

Clash of Clans for AND and iOS is a typical social game in which, similarly to MMO games, players have the ability to establish and join the titular clans. Members of these clans can dispatch their armies to support their allies in battles. At the same time, other clans that wage war with your alliance can attack you. Interestingly enough, apart from the multiplayer mode, the developers have also implemented a single player campaign, in which you fight goblin armies with the objective of conquering 50 settlements controlled by the AI.

Technical aspects

Clash of Clans for AND and iOS features cartoon-style visuals typical for web browser/mobile games. The landscape is rich with colors – in order to avoid monotony, the developers have taken care to implement seasonal changes into the game. Clash of Clans is based on the popular free-to-play business model with microtransactions – using them is optional, nonetheless, without paying real money, one's progress in the game is much slower.
