City Magnate Description
City Magnate is a simple economic game, which refers to the classic board games in the Monopoly convention, and at the same time contains many simple gambling games. The Russian studio Alawar Entertainment from Novosibirsk, which has developed and released many popular casual games since 1999, such as the PacMania Walking series.
In City Magnate we play the role of a novice businessman whose aim is to dominate the local market. The game takes place on a board in the form of a circle, consisting of many fields, each of which corresponds to a different type of property or event. The player moves around the map with a small car model, making a dice throw at the beginning of each turn. This way you can get to a field containing one of the available properties (e.g. clothing shop or workshop) or an event (e.g. a meeting with the mafia, reducing the available budget by 10 percent, or a roulette game, which gives the possibility to increase it). The player gains money when one of up to three opponents hits the location occupied by his building. The winner is the one who receives the highest income or makes the budget of other participants of the game shrink to zero.
Although City Magnate is simple and uncomplicated to play, the ability to upgrade your property and the randomness of the mini-gambling games included in the production make each approach to the title one of a kind. Special attention should be paid to the possibility of playing in four people on one computer.
City Magnate presents itself correctly in terms of audiovisual setting. The game is accompanied by three-dimensional, colourful music and very simple, electronic music.
