Fortnite Video Game Series
A record-breaking series of third-person perspective (TPP) action games focused on multiplayer gameplay. It belongs to the production of Epic Games studio, whose portfolio includes such gems as Jazz Jackrabbit or Gears of War. It is worth noting that the then Polish branch of Epic Games (now People Can Fly) was responsible for the production of the first part.
The first game in the series, focused on cooperative play Fortnite: Save the World, was released in early access in July 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Very quickly, as early as September of the same year, it was released on the market. Fortnite: Battle Royale, a free, standalone game offering battle royale gameplay. In April 2018, the popular mode could start to be enjoyed by iOS owners, in June Switch owners, and since October, people with Android can join the game.
World Fortnite: Save the World is haunted by zombie-like demons called blanks, arriving on Earth from storm clouds visible over the horizon. Players are tasked with exploring randomly generated maps, gathering resources, building fortifications, and fighting off the invading waves of monsters. An important element of the gameplay is also the storyline presented during the campaign - since by the arrival of a mysterious storm about 98% of the Earth's population died out, we, as a handful of survivors, have to face the hordes of demons, reclaim the territories taken from us and save humanity. To do this, we have several professions at our disposal, with various benefits attached to them - for example, the Constructor builds faster, while consuming fewer resources. As we progress in the game, our character gathers experience and develops to a maximum of level 20. Also worth mentioning is the player's own headquarters, which he upgrades and expands with more rooms. Fortnite: Save the World includes both single and multiplayer modes.
In turn, the gameplay in Fortnite: Battle Royale consists of fighting against other players - a hundred players end up on the same island at the same time, and the last one left alive wins. As the area in which players move gradually shrinks, care must be taken not to fall outside the battlefield. Those outside the safe area receive continuous damage, which can even lead to the death of the character. It is worth noting that at the beginning the player is provided only with a pickaxe. The entire gameplay takes place over the so-called seasons, which usually last 10 weeks each. Each season introduces some kind of changes - new items, tasks, changes on the map, etc. Fortnite: Battle Royale only includes a multiplayer mode.
Although both games in the series grapple with rather serious topics - saving the remnants of humanity from hordes of demons or dueling to the death - they do so in an extremely humorous way, so that all the seriousness of the situation fades away. This impression is also enhanced by cartoonish graphics reminiscent of the style known from Team Fortress 2.
A characteristic element of both games is destruction and creation - practically everything that sticks out above the ground the player can destroy, thus acquiring resources, and build something new. W Fortnite: Save the World we build fortifications to protect us from the hollows, while in Fortnite: Battle Royale we can put up, for example, wooden walls on the run, behind which enemy bullets will not reach us.
Both productions, as befits the works of Epic Games, were created using Unreal Engine technology.
Series Fortnite was met with a very favorable reception from critics and an insanely positive response from players, whose number, according to data from June 2018, exceeded 125 million. Fortnite: Battle Royale has become a phenomenon on par with Minecraft and in 2018 received awards in the "Best Developing Game" and "Best Multiplayer Game" categories (Game Awards 2018), among others. Success Fortnite: Battle Royale and Playerunnown's Battleground contributed to the proliferation of the battle royale mode, which appeared in, among others. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 i Battlefield V.
As is usually the case, controversy has followed in the wake of popularity. Epic Games has already received three lawsuits for unlawful use in its game as emoticons of dance moves invented by others - rapper 2 Milly, actor Alfonso Ribero and a teenager more widely known as the "Backpack Kid"; the main reason for their dissatisfaction is that we can get the emoticons by paying with V-dollars - the game's internal currency earned with real money, by which the developers are, as it were, selling someone else's intellectual property. Whether this is actually the case will be determined by the court.

Fortnite: Battle Royale is a free-to-play multiplayer action game developed by Epic Games. The game is based on the battle royale formula and is similar to e.g. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. A hundred players are transported onto an island with almost nothing in their inventory. The player is tasked with finding or looting weapons, traps, and other pieces of gear. The game offers the players much leeway - one can run around and shoot as much as they like, nonetheless, one can also assume the stealthy approach, hide in an appropriate spot and eliminate the foes with a sniper rifle. Additionally, one can acquire more resources from buildings, trees, etc. and use them to construct numerous objects such as stairs, covers, and bridges. The only objective the player is tasked with is staying alive until the end of a match. This task is even more difficult due to the fact that the battlefield shrinks continuously. The game is based on Unreal Engine technology, also used in the production processes of such games as Final Fantasy VII Remake and Tekken 7.
