Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is the fifth major expansion to the popular MMORPG. Like the base game, it was developed by Square Enix.

Plot

After the previous expansion (Endwalker) brought the game's initial storyline to an end, Dawntrail begins an entirely new one. The DLC is a holiday adventure. The players visit a New World, the land of Tural, where they take part in the election of its next ruler.

Mechanics

Dawntrail doesn't revolutionize the gameplay, instead focusing on adding new content.

It introduces the realm of Tural to the game's world. The land is home to such locations as the great city of Tuliyollal, the mountains of Urqopacha and the dense Yak Tel forest. There are also plenty of new enemies, quests, hunts, dungeons and raids.

The expansion raises the level cap from 90 to 100. It also adds new classes - one being melee focused, the other specializing in long-distance magic.

There are new items, crafting recipes, improved PvP and Blue Mages mechanics.

Technical aspects

The expansion enhances the game's visuals, especially the textures and shadows.
