El Paso, Elsewhere is a shooter with bullet time as its primary mechanic. The game is a homage to old-school third-person shooters, featuring neo-noir visuals. It was developed by Strange Scaffold.

Plot

The playable character is a hunter of the supernatural, tracking down creatures such as werewolves, vampires and fallen angels. The game is set in the Texas-based El Paso hotel. We must rescue the victims of Dracula, once the protagonist's lover, and dispatch the villain at any cost, even our own life.

Alongside its main storyline, El Paso, Elsewhere also features 46 side stories about other characters. Not all are told directly - some must be discovered through exploration and paying attention to the environment.

The plot of El Paso, Elsewhere is humorous, accompanied by an unusual hip-hop soundtrack.

Mechanics

The game is a third person shooter, most of its gameplay focused on taking down enemies using various firearms or gadgets. The player can wield handguns, shotguns, grenade launchers and molotov cocktails. There are many different enemy types, all with unique fighting styles. The player can activate bullet time while shooting, gaining more time to aim and making gameplay flashier.

We'll also face many barricades and obstacles which can be destroyed with gunfire thanks to the extensive physics system, injuring nearby enemies as they collapse. The hotel's floors and sectors mark the game's stages - the bloodier they are, the further we've gone.

Technical aspects

The game's visuals are a throwback to old shooters, featuring low poly models and a subdued color palette contrasting vibrant blood and lighting.
