Duke Nukem: Time to Kill Description
Duke Nukem: Time to Kill, released exclusively on PS1, is a third-person shooter starring one of the most charismatic heroes in the history of virtual entertainment. This is the next installment of the series, but it completely abandons the mechanics of fun known from the previous parts.
Plot
The cosmic Draks race begins to manipulate the history of the world. Changing the course of events, they plan to take over the world and establish a new order, getting rid of Duke in the process. The protagonist doesn't intend to allow this to happen, so using the time machine, he moves to different epochs such as the Wild West and the Middle Ages.
Mechanics
Time to Kill is strongly based on the mechanics known to players from the first installments of the Tomb Raider series. The camera is placed behind the character's back. We go through levels, eliminating hordes of enemies and dealing with occasional arcade challenges and logical puzzles like finding hidden keys and passcards. Players have at their disposal an arsenal of weapons that they can use to eliminate aliens and the transformed people. Our equipment includes a revolver, rifle, flame thrower, minigun, but also fancy energy or freezing weapons.
Game modes
In addition to the main game mode, the developers also prepared a deathmatch mode for two players. Console owners can compete on a split-screen with each other on several maps referring to individual levels from the story mode and using all the equipment available to Duke.
Technical aspects
Duke Nukem: Time to Kill is distinguished by numerous humorous elements and references to other pop culture products. The authors more or less subtly laugh at Lara Croft and Tomb Raider, the film hits Evil Dead and Back to the Future or make references to Monty Python's sketches.
