Divinity: Fallen Heroes Description
Divinity: Fallen Heroes is a spin-off to the Divinity series, combining RPG and tactical elements. The game was created by Larian Studios in cooperation with Logic Artists studio (also known for creating the Expedition series).
Plot
The story in Divinity: Fallen Heroes continues the events from Divinity: Original Sin 2. Players will return to the ship of Mrs. Revenge and travel to previously unknown areas of the in-game world. During the adventure, players will meet new characters, but also old friends including Malada, Ifan Ben-Mezda, Losha, and the Red Emperor. Together with them, players will travel through the desert areas of the Lizard Empire and the snowy Kingdom of Dwarves to face a new threat.
Mechanics
Although Divinity: Fallen Heroes delivers elements known from Divinity: Original Sin 2, the game significantly differs from the full-fledged installments in the series. The game puts more emphasis on tactical battles in which players command troops similarly as in the XCOM series. These are acquired as the game progresses. There are more than thirty unit types, including unique veterans. The latter provide valuable support, but their death in combat is painful, as in such a case players lose them permanently. In order to prevent this, one needs to acquire helpful artifacts for heroes and also invest in new technologies, including gunpowder, which in turn is a novelty in the universe. In addition, in the game, players will find more than two hundred abilities, which will allow them to tip the scales of victory on their side.
This does not mean that the creators have resigned from elements typical for RPGs. Other important elements include interacting with NPCs, including Mrs. Revenge's crew. The choices made during these conversations will have a significant impact on the game, and unfortunate decisions will lower the morale of the troops and may discourage some heroes from continuing their expedition.
Game modes
Divinity: Fallen Heroes maintains the traditions of Larian Studios production. All of the more than sixty missions of the story campaign can be completed not only in the solo, but also in cooperative mode together with another player.

Before Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios Tried to Create Its Own XCOM. Divinity: Fallen Heroes Was Supposed to Be a „Compact” Title
After the release of Divinity: Original Sin 2, and before the launch of Baldur's Gate 3, the Larian Studios team worked on other projects. One of them was Divinity: Fallen Heroes, being developed with the Logic Artists team. It would be closer to the XCOM series than to a classic RPG.
