Scrooge McDuck and its biggest competitor - Granit Forsant - compete for the Duck of the Year title, which is awarded by the renowned Dime magazine. In the next edition of the competition, the editors decide to award the prize to this duck, which will accumulate a larger sum of money within thirty consecutive days. Both "gentlemen" immediately start a mad chase for the treasures scattered all over the world, trying to get enough cash to leave behind an eternal rival.

In the game appear all the key characters, which we had the opportunity to admire in the animated prototype. In addition to the millionaires mentioned above, Disney's DuckTales: The Quest for Gold also features Huey, Dewey and Louie, the three unruly nephews of Donald, McQuack - a poor but never surrendering pilot of Scrooge and Gyro - a brilliant inventor who focuses here on the constant repair of a damaged biplane.

The construction of the game is not especially complex. The adventure begins on the map of the world, where the locations containing treasures are marked. After selecting the destination, a simple mini-game is launched, in which the helicopter tries to fly from one airport to another in one piece. Mastering an aircraft requires practice, but it's not too difficult - it's important to control the machine skillfully so that it doesn't fall into traps lurking along the way. In the event of a crash, Sknerus and his companions will still reach their destination, but for a penalty they will lose the time needed to repair the main means of transport.

The search for the treasure is carried out in the form of another mini-game, but here we already have much more possibilities - the authors have prepared several types of struggles. Diversity is large, once we take part in a photo session, which consists in taking pictures of selected animals, while at other times we climb over rocky performances, just like in classic platformers. Time plays an important role in these episodes, as it may happen that the same treasure has expressed interest in Granit Forsant. In such cases, it is necessary to act efficiently and precisely so as not to give a rival a chance of success. After returning to Duckburg you can multiply your capital by investing on the stock exchange, but it does not always bring measurable benefits.

A big advantage of the game is graphics, which in 1990 was very impressive. Despite the fact that the authors did not manage to get such a good effect as on competing Atari ST and Commodore Amiga computers, the PC conversion looks really solid against their background.
