Destruction Derby

Very unusual car races. It doesn't matter where you reach the finish line, but whether you'll be able to do it at all. The main goal of the game is the total destruction of enemy vehicles.

Destruction Derby, released on PS3, PC, PSP, AND, and PS Vita, was developed by Reflections Interactive and published by Psygnosis is about reaching the finish line at all cost.

Mechanics

Our car in Destruction Derby is not made of rubber, of course, any impact in a greater or lesser way shortens its durability. The current condition of the vehicle can be quickly assessed by looking at the lower right corner of the screen. If any of the arrows there turns red, it is better not to expose this part of the car to unnecessary enemy attacks. As all tracks are surrounded by a concrete band, you also have to be careful to stay as far away as possible - it is better to damage the vehicle in a ruthless fight than bumping against the wall.

Game modes

We can race in four different modes. The first one, Time Trial, is a traditional time trial. The second type of racing is Wreckin' Racing. 16 cars participate in a competition, which you can freely break down while driving. The more damage you manage to do, the more points you will get. Everything depends on your creativity and ingenuity. Stock Car Racing is very similar. You have to eliminate rival opponents, but you don't get any points for that. What matters is whether you can get to the finish line in a demolished car. The last game mode is the titular Destruction Derby. The competition area is a huge square, there is no marked out route, so you don't have to deal with racing. With your car, you simply have to destroy all your opponents and earn as many points as possible at the same time. Considering that everyone around you is trying to do the same, you will witness a lot of chaos. It is worth noting that Destruction Derby always ends in Wreckin' and Stock Car Racing. So it's good to practice solidly, as it's in the arena that you can easily make up for the points lost during a traditional ride.

Technical aspects

Destruction Derby has nice, extremely colourful graphics and quite pleasant soundtrack with a commentator evaluating our struggles.
