Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Description
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a spin-off of the warmly received Deep Rock Galactic from 2020. This roguelike shooter, inspired by games such as Vampire Survivors, was developed by Funday Games and published by Ghost Ship Publishing (a publishing division of the studio responsible for original game, Ghost Ship Games).
Plot
In Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor we play as a dwarven astronaut, ending up on the planet Hoxxes on behalf of his employer. The protagonist must descend into the depths of the labyrinth stretching below the inhospitable surface, acquire as many natural resources as possible and evacuate. The task is not easy, as hordes of enemies wait for our dwarf to venture beneath Hoxxes's surface...
Mechanics
The gameplay of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is shown from the top-down perspective. Before starting the game we must select one of the few available dwarves. Our adventure takes us through several procedurally generated locations. The underground paths often branch out, leading through various biomes; it's up to us where we venture.
After leaving the capsule used to get underground we must complete our mission objectives and extract as many resources as possible. After completing our objectives we must return to the capsule in time to escape. The enemies further complicate the matter, attacking in waves; their hordes differ in terms of numbers, composition and threat level. In addition to regular enemies, which there are tons of, we'll also face much more powerful bosses. The player can use a vast arsenal, consisting of weapons such as rifles, rocket launchers, grenade launchers or flamethrowers. As we progress through the game we can enhance our character, unlocking new upgrades and even deadlier guns.
Technical aspects
The visuals of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor make use of the same colorful and appealing low poly artstyle known from the original Deep Rock Galactic.
