Niche Gamer: 9 / 10
It isn’t just veterans of the genre that’ll love this game either. Anyone interested and looking for their first foray into the genre should absolutely consider this as a first pick. The lack of meta progression means less grinding and more time spent on learning the mechanics that’ll translate into other games.
Screen Rant: 3 / 5 by Jason Hon
Despite the game not having much more than its single-player and endless mode, Brotato is capable of being can't-put-down fun. Thanks to quick rounds, accessible controls, and easy upgrade options, each run has the potential to be intense and memorable. Still, Brotato's adorably violent art style and characters are begging to be more thoroughly fleshed out with lore. The game would also be a blast on handheld or mobile devices, and with a multiplayer mode where friends could join their spuds together in chaotic cooperative combat. Still, Blobfish has proven itself with Brotato, a fun action game that stars a six-weapon-wielding potato who fights alien hordes.
CGMagazine: 7.5 / 10 by Steven Green
Brotato makes up for its lacking depth, enemy variety, arena variety, and mash-up of mechanics seen elsewhere, by making the best of the combination to create an addictive title that fans of pure, arcade-like gameplay will love.

The main cons of the game
- Repetitive Gameplay: Some players feel that the lack of variety in maps and enemies can lead to a sense of monotony over time.
- Difficulty Balance Issues: A few reviews mention that certain characters and items could use better balancing, particularly at higher difficulty levels, making some runs feel frustrating.
- Limited Content Variety: Users have noted that the game could benefit from additional content, such as more maps or enemy types, to keep the experience fresh.
- Performance Issues: Some players have reported technical hiccups, particularly after the DLC update, affecting gameplay stability.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Endless Run Functionality: Some users expressed a desire for a feature that allows players to end a run after a specific wave without dying, to avoid frustration after strong runs.
- Expanded Multiplayer Options: While local co-op is available, players have requested more robust online multiplayer features.
- More Variety in Enemies and Maps: Users feel that additional maps and enemy types would enhance the gameplay experience and reduce repetitiveness.
- Improved Balance for Higher Difficulty Levels: There are calls for better balancing of character abilities and item effectiveness, especially in the context of the game?s harder modes.
Summary
- Overall, Brotato is praised for its engaging gameplay and variety, but it faces criticism regarding content variety and balance, with users expressing a desire for additional features to enhance the experience.

Brotato Description
Brotato is an action game with RPG, roguelike and bullet hell shooter elements, inspired by the bestselling Vampire Survivors. It was developed by Blobfish, an indie one-man studio, behind the development of this title.
Plot
The main character of the game Brotato is the titular potato coming from the Potato World. The protagonist's space journey ended with an emergency landing on an alien planet. Waiting to be rescued, our protégé must face hordes of enemies.
Game mechanics
In Brotato we observe the action from a top-down view. The gameplay takes place in arenas and involves the extermination of hordes of enemies. Successive waves differ from each other in terms of duration and intensity. We eliminate our adversaries using a wide range of weapons (our potato can use six guns at once), which include machine guns, flamethrowers and rocket launchers, as well as less conventional (given the circumstances) weapons such as swords, clubs and stones. Brotato can shoot automatically, allowing us to focus on maneuvering between enemies and avoiding their attacks; however, nothing prevents us from switching to manual aiming.
As we progress, we gain experience and collect useful materials; moreover, between successive waves we can visit the store to properly prepare for the next attacks. In addition, over time we unlock new characters, each with unique strengths and weaknesses (we're talking about knights, mages or one-armed heroes, among others).
The title also allows us to adjust individual gameplay parameters to individual skills. Among other things, we can adjust the health and speed of enemies and the damage they inflict to our own preferences.
Technical aspects
Brotato features simple, two-dimensional graphics made in a cartoon style. The whole thing is colorful and clear, which allows you to quickly get an idea of the situation in the arena.
