Dawnwalker is a high-budget (AAA) RPG game produced by the Rebel Wolves studio. At the beginning of 2022, it was founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, a former employee of CD Projekt Red, who was the director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as well as the sound director and head of production of Cyberpunk 2077.
The development team consisted of about 100 people, among whom there was no shortage of veterans from CDPR. These included: Bartlomiej Gawel (art director of The Witcher 3), Daniel Sadowski (project director of The Witcher 1), Jakub Szamalek (co-screenwriter of Cyberpunk 2077) and Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz - the creative director's brother of the founder of Rebel Wolves, and previously the director of side missions in Cyberpunk 2077 and the head the main quest designer in The Witcher 3.
Plot and gameplay
The main advantage of Dawnwalker is its exciting story, which focuses on the player's moral choices and establishing relationships with NPCs. It takes place in a medium-sized open world - similar in size to the land of Toussaint from the Blood and Wine expansion for the third Witcher - and is planned to be the first part of a larger saga.
Technical aspects
The game is powered by Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5. Moreover, it is co-financed by the Chinese corporation NetEase, known primarily for its activities in the mobile gaming segment.
