Dark Deity 2 is a sequel to the tactical jRPG inspired by the Fire Emblem series and Final Fantasy Tactics, which debuted in 2021. The developers of the original, the independent Sword & Axe studio, are behind the development of this production.

Gameplay

Dark Deity 2 does not introduce revolutionary changes in mechanics, which is based on the scheme developed for the first installment of the series.

Perspective and combat system

During the game, the action is viewed from a bird's eye view, and its most important element is turn-based skirmishes with opponents. Although the clashes take place in arenas covered with a grid of invisible square p?les, between which we can move units, selected attacks are presented on a separate screen showing the participants of the battle from the side.

Characters and classes

The production allows us to lead into battle a squad consisting of characters recruited as we progress. They represent classes, differentiated in terms of active and passive skills, strengths and weaknesses.

As you progress, you develop your subordinates and acquire better equipment for them. At the same time, we don't have to stick to the specifics of a particular profession; the developers encourage experimentation with abilities and equipment.

Decision-making

During gameplay we often have to make decisions that affect the course of the story and its ending. The game allows us to make alliances with certain factions, which, however, may mean making enemies among the representatives of other groups. In addition, the choices we make affect the state of our team, which can lead to the strengthening of ties or, on the contrary, the destruction of friendships.

Campaign personalization

Worthy of a separate mention is the so-called "randomizer" and a set of tools that allow us to customize the campaign to individual preferences. Among other things, the authors allow us to change the order of recruiting heroes and heroines, as well as to modify the difficulty level to suit individual preferences.

The plot

Dark Deity 2 takes us to the fantastic world created for the first part of the series. After 25 years, the land of Verroa lived to see reconstruction under the guidance of Irving and the Eternal Order (Eternal Order). However, it was not an idyll, as animosities between the ruling factions regularly made themselves known. To make matters worse, a threat from the Holy Asverellan Empire appeared on the horizon.

All is not lost, however, as Gwyn and Riordian, the descendants of Irving, take command of the Eternal Delegation. Its goal is to forge alliances and stop the specter of conquest hanging over the land of Verroa. It is up to us to decide how their adventure will unfold and end.
