Colony Siege PC

Colony Siege is a science fiction strategy that unites the mechanisms of RTS and tower defense. The game is a debut project of Finifugal Games studio.

Plot

The action of the game takes place in the distant future. The player takes on the role of a commander whose task is to defend human colonies on foreign planets. This is not easy, because colonists are threatened by two hostile factions - the biomechanical Xeno predators, which resemble insect swarms, and the Riven armies, consisting of creatures that were human long ago but their bodies have been deformed.

Mechanics

Colony Siege is a real time strategy. In each mission, our task is to defend the citadel, the colony's most important building, against further waves of enemies. We do this in the style known from tower defense games, building various watchtowers, that automatically attack the enemies. We can also create traps in which units of the enemy army fall into.

The forming the movements of the aggressors' forces is crucial. The structures being built are connected by means of energy barriers, creating corridors that force a longer route for the enemies to march and thus give us more time to neutralise them before they reach the citadel. This is helped by devices that slow down enemies.

In addition to classic tower defense systems, the authors have added mechanisms typical for real time strategies. We do not have to rely only on automatic defence structures when playing. It is also possible to build your own units and use such an army to attack your enemies. In the case of these troops, we give orders by ourselves, telling them to relocate, attack the target or activate special capabilities.

Victories are rewarded with a currency that we use to unlock access to new structures and units and to buy improvements to them. In each mission, we can further increase our earnings by performing optional side missions.

Game modes

Colony Siege offers a non-linear single player campaign, shaped by our decisions and actions. A cooperation mode for two players is also available.

Technical aspects

The game has a fully three-dimensional graphic design, which main attraction is a large scale of skirmishes.
