Age of History 3 Description
Age of History 3 is the third installment in a series of turn-based grand strategy games originating from 2014. Like the previous installments, it was created by an indie developer Lukasz Jakowski.
Mechanics
Like the previous games, Age of History 3 tasks us with leading our chosen nation through subsequent historical periods, from the beginnings of civilization to far future. Each nation has its own strengths and weaknesses which must be taken into account to dominate other countries.
The game is turn-based. The player must run the entire nation while assisted by faithful advisors.
We must take care of the economy, gather resources, construct buildings and research new technologies. We must also establish laws and handle religious matters. Handling relations with other civilizations is just as important. Still, no matter how skilled we are at diplomacy, sooner or later we'll have to go to war.
The new combat system divides our armies into two front lines. This lets us place more direct, stronger units in the front while placing indirect combatants, such as archers, in the back.
When preparing for military operations we must also keep manpower in mind. It determines how many men we can draft to our army. We need time for our manpower to replenish and our population to grow. Each battle, even victorious, involves losses, so we must choose our wars carefully.
Technical aspects
Age of History 3 visually mainly consists of the interface and the world map.
