Call of Duty: Strike Team, released on AND and iOS, is a spin-off of the cult Activision series. Call of Duty: Strike Team is a combination of an FPS and tactical strategy game in isometric view. The title was prepared Activision Leeds and The Blast Furnace.
Plot
The action of Call of Duty: Strike Team takes place in the same reality as Call of Duty: Black Ops II. In 2020, the United States was faced with a real threat from a previously unknown opponent - the ruthless terrorist organization Cordis Die. A Joint Special Operations Team Commandos, headed by the player, is sent to fight the enemy.
Mechanics
In terms of mechanics, Strike Team is a kind of revolution in the whole series. For the first time in the series, there are elements of classic FPS, known from fully-fledged entries, and tactical strategy with stealth elements. During the game, we can freely switch from the first-person view to the tactical view, which represents the mission area from the perspective of the drone suspended above the heads of the commandos. Thanks to this, we can easily get acquainted with the mission area and direct the unit, giving orders such as: go here, hide behind the cover, kill quietly, suppressive fire, hack the device, etc. At any time of the game, we can take matters into our own hands, returning to the FPP mode, which throws us into the very middle of the fight.
The story mode in the game consists of 25 different missions, which take place in several different sceneries, such as Alaska, Afghanistan or China. Individual scenarios are linear, although we can often choose between open combat and quiet approach. Just like in the Metal Gear Solid series, we also have the ability to hide the bodies of enemies. Before each task, we select members of the unit, their skills and weapons. Players have at their disposal quite a large arsenal of rifles, shotguns, snipers, as well as armors, grenades, explosives and first-aid kits. More weapons are unlocked during the game by gaining experience (although there is also an option to buy them earlier for real money). The story campaign is complemented by the survival mode known from Modern Warfare 3, in which we fight against successive waves of enemies, competing for a position in the online ranking.
Technical aspects
In terms of graphics, Call of Duty: Strike Team presents a high level of performance (especially in isometric perspective). Our struggle is accompanied by an epic soundtrack, typical for fully-fledged editions of the series. The creators also didn't forget about the appropriate number of cut-scenes and scripted action sequences, such as breaching the door or aerial fire.
