Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles

Bulwark is a city-builder strategy game. It was developed by Tomas Sala, an independent developer who became famous thanks to The Falconeer game.

Plot

Bulwark takes us on a journey to a fantastic universe created for the purpose of The Falconeer. Our task is not only to build a city from scratch, but also to defend it against the attacks of enemies.

Game mechanics

In Bulwark we observe the action from the top-down view. The gameplay is based on two pillars. The first of them is the peaceful construction of the city. Unlike most other games of this type, we do not have the possibility to choose the buildings we build. Instead, we can only determine their size and the direction in which they will extend. Like in Townscaper, our buildings grow out of the ground, connect to each other, and undergo constant expansion and transformation.

As we build towns, we should keep in mind not only their aesthetic aspects, but also their defensive functions. The second pillar of gameplay is to defend our fortress from the attacks of enemies, among which lead the powerful dragons.

Technical aspects

Graphics in Bulwark is in a characteristic, cartoonish, but at the same time quite dark style. We can listen to relaxing music, which changes when it comes to battles with enemies.
