Tomas Sala, the developer responsible for The Falconeer, presented his new work. The game is titled Bulwark and is set in the same universe as the creator's previous game.
However, Sala decided to radically change the genre. As opposed to The Falconeer, it will not be a unique aviation game with a big bird as a "flying machine" and RPG elements. Bulwark is a combination of a city builder and an RTS.
A city on top of a mountain
The first trailer of the game is in fact a short gameplay video. Watching it, we can come to the conclusion that the essence of the game will be free development of a city located on islands.
The game seems to feature almost no interface. When erecting successive structures, the builder does not choose individual buildings. He only defines their width, height and overall size. Then the objects begin to grow out of the ground.
Watching this short gameplay, it is difficult to fully understand the city expansion mechanics. How to achieve the desired effects? How to make the desired buildings grow in front of us? We do not know the answers to these questions yet.
Not only a construction site
Boulevard is not only a city builder. It is also a real-time strategy, in which we take care of the security of the built city.
The trailer shows airships flying around towers and ships patrolling small bays. Towards the end, the gameplay shows dragons attacking a city while its citizens defend themselves by firing cannons at their enemies.
In this respect, the trailer is also very mysterious. The footage does not reveal the course of the clashes and we do not know whether the player has an impact on defensive actions.
So we simply have to arm ourselves with patience and wait for new information from Tomas Sala. He revealed that it will take him at least a year to complete the game.
