Blaze Revolutions is a real-time strategy game in which where we are dealing with hemp-growing and fighting an oppressive system. The game was developed by the indie Dutch studio Little Chicken Game Company, which is located in Amsterdam.
Plot
Blaze Revolutions takes us into the not too distant future. The world is polluted as never before, the people who live there enjoy the benefits of virtual reality every day, and SomaCorp is the hard-line government here. The main characters of this production are Janet and Winston Blaze. Wanting to defeat the oppressive system and solve the mystery of their father's kidnapping, the protagonists start a kind of green revolution, which is joined over time by other outlawed individuals.
Mechanics
In Blaze Revolutions, the action is shown from a bird's eye view. The main element of the game is the hemp-growing. As the SomaCorp reach far away, we cannot simply buy land for cultivation (at least initially), so for example our green plants grow on the roofs of buildings. By selling them, we not only gain the resources necessary to expand our infrastructure, but we also gain the trust of oppressed citizens and thus expand our sphere of influence. In addition, during the game, we construct buildings that allow us to recycle useful materials and build defensive systems to protect our base when it is at the sight of SomaCorp forces. In addition, as we progress, we recruit new members of our team, whom we then send on various missions that require both specific skills (for example, hacking computer systems) and discretion (since they often come to act behind enemy lines).
Technical aspects
The graphic design of Blaze Revolutions was maintained in a colourful, exaggerated style. The bright, green fumes of the areas controlled by Janet and Winston contrast in an interesting way with the dark and violet smoke areas of SomaCorp.
