BattleTech: Flashpoint

BattleTech: Flashpoint is an expansion for the tactical RPG set in the titular sci-fi universe known from the classic table-top wargame (thanks to the Westwood studio, this world first appeared on computer screens in 1988). Just like the basic version of the game, the expansion was developed by Harebrained Schemes studio, which has also created the Shadowrun trilogy.

Mechanics

Just like in the basic version of the game, the gameplay in BattleTech: Flashpoint consists of two parts. The first one are turn-based battles, during which we control our mechs equipped with weapons and special skills, and to gain an advantage over the opponent. The battlefield is usually observed from an isometric perspective, but during attacks and movements the camera changes its position. The second half of the game focuses on managing a group of mercenaries by selecting and developing equipment and skills, as well as selecting the right missions.

The add-on adds to BattleTech three new combat machines (Hatchetman which can easily break armor, the fast Crab and the dangerous Cyclops), a new biom in the form of a tropical beach, and a new type of mission - Target Acquisition, which gives us the task of using light and medium mechs to take control of three strategic points on the map.

Flashpoints are also an interesting new addition - short, action-packed stories, consisting of several missions, connected with each other through dialogues and special events. We are forced to make important decisions and get a chance to gain valuable equipment.

Game modes

In BattleTech: Flashpoint we can play alone or with other players.

Technical aspects

BattleTech: Flashpoint add-on does not make any changes to the graphics design of the basic version of the game.
