An add-on to the tactical mech battle game developed by Shadowrun developer Harebrained Schemes, a refreshed version of a production by the legendary Westwood studio (known from the Command & Conquer series), released in the late 1980s.

BattleTech: Flashpoint is an expansion for the tactical RPG set in the titular sci-fi universe known from the classic table-top wargame (thanks to the Westwood studio, this world first appeared on computer screens in 1988). Just like the basic version of the game, the expansion was developed by Harebrained Schemes studio, which has also created the Shadowrun trilogy.

Mechanics

Just like in the basic version of the game, the gameplay in BattleTech: Flashpoint consists of two parts. The first one are turn-based battles, during which we control our mechs equipped with weapons and special skills, and to gain an advantage over the opponent. The battlefield is usually observed from an isometric perspective, but during attacks and movements the camera changes its position. The second half of the game focuses on managing a group of mercenaries by selecting and developing equipment and skills, as well as selecting the right missions.
