Auto Age: Standoff Description
Auto Age: Standoff for PC is a car-themed action game belonging to the MOBA genre. The project was developed by Phantom Compass – a team popular mainly for Rollers of the Realm.
Plot
The game is set in 2080, in the areas of the former US. The region was turned into a desert swarming with motorized gangs. The players were delivered with a post-apocalyptic take on the future world, using retro-futuristic visuals patterned on both movies and science-fiction cartoons from the 1980s.
Mechanics
Auto Age: Standoff for PC places the players behind the wheels of heavily modified cars - both armed and armored. Practically all the elements the machines are built of can be replaced or adjusted to one's preferences. For instance, the player can modify the chassis, body or different accessories. The development system here was synchronized with this aspect of the game, thus car parts are upgraded through technology trees.
Game modes
Interestingly, contrary to the majority of MOBA games, Auto Age: Standoff contains a traditional story campaign in the singleplayer mode. The plot here is focused on the radio messages inviting all the daredevils to the so-called Dead Zone; also, the story campaign presents a conflict between a gang belonging to major figure called Valentina Vega, and a new group under the leadership of a warlord known as Dark Jaw.
In the campaign, the player competes against the AI in missions based on different gameplay patterns. Some of those resemble classic story-based adventures, whereas others simulate MOBA or PvP encounters based on the same rules that apply to the multiplayer component.
Apart from the singleplayer mode, Auto Age: Standoff for PC offers a multiplayer experience. In the multiplayer mode, basic mechanics resemble classic MOBA titles. Thus two small groups of players compete against one another, trying to destroy the enemy's base. In case of Auto Age: Standoff, the bases are located onboard huge, but incredibly sluggish vehicles. Also, the players gather resources that can be used both to modify the cars and create allied units controlled by the AI.
What is more, Auto Age: Standoff contains a more traditional PvP mode resembling deathmatches. Additionally, it is praiseworthy that duels can be played in a split-screen mode (up to 4 players), apart from the online variant.
