A platformer Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures, based on the Internet video games review series called Angry Video Game Nerd by James Rolfe, was published in 2013. The title was warmly-received by fans, so a sequel – Angry Video Game Nerd II: ASSimilation – was released in 2016 on PC.
Plot
The story in Angry Video Game Nerd II: ASSimilation does not make much sense and serves only as a pretext for the action. All we know is that the Earth is struck by a beam from space which turns it into a video game. This time the Angry Video Game Nerd undertakes a mission of saving his friends and humanity.
Mechanics
The production is inspired by classic NES games. This is a 2D platformer, featuring 20 levels. Angry Video Game Nerd II: ASSimilation published on PC is similar to calssic productions, also in the difficulty level. In the game, you jump, avoid obstacles, and fight enemies, including bosses. Moreover, you also collect armour elements, which makes the journey more easy, and unlock new abilities, like short-distance gliding. Gameplay is seasoned with a massive dose of humour and references to movies, games, and pop culture.
Technical aspects
Angry Video Game Nerd II: Assimilation put out on PC should satisfy the tastes of 8-bit production fans – the title looks as if it was developed in the past.
