Aliens vs Predator Description
Aliens vs Predator for PC, X360 and PS3 is an FPS game that focuses on the encounters between Marines, Aliens, and Predators. It was developed by Rebelion, a studio responsible for the 1999 Alien vs Predator game, and published by Sega.
The Plot
In Aliens vs Predator we play as members of the three characteristic factions from the game’s dark and brutal universe. Humans, represented by the Marines, are equipped with various state-of-the-art technologies which allow them to fight with aliens equal terms. The Aliens, well-known from the movies and comic books, are an extremely dangerous and deadly species whose only goals are evolution and reproduction. Predators on the other hand are natural-born warriors and hunters, traveling through the universe looking for new challenges and trophies. Their unique technology allows them to partially cloak themselves and screen the environment in search of life forms.
Like previous games from the series, Aliens vs Predator for PC, X360 and PS3 has three intertwined single player campaigns available. Each of them is dedicated to one of the available races – Predator, Xenomorph, or a human Marine – and offers completely different gameplay mechanics. The game’s plot takes place roughly 30 years after the events of the second Alien movie. A strange pyramid was found on the colonial planet BG-386. Digging it up has awaken the Xenomorphs and lured Predators.
Mechanics
Rebellion introduced some changes in this installment of the series, the balance of characters being perhaps the most important one. Xenomoprhs movement speed has been reduced, and we need to think more tactical when chasing our opponent, like switching the lights off to blind them. It is also worth mentioning that now we have to not only kill our enemies, but also assimilate them. Predators, as usual, equipped with all kinds of advanced weaponry, can use all kinds of edges to travel faster around the locations. Just like in the previous games, Marines are perhaps the most threatened protagonists in the game, but this time they have some state-of-the-art weapons at their disposal. Aliens vs Predator for PC, X360 and PS3 is much more brutal than the previous games from the series.
Just like in the rest of the games in the Aliens vs Predator series, we can explore many locations characteristic for the available races. We visit space colonies, alien and human spaceships, and alien planets. There is also an array of weapons for us to use. Marines can use rifles and grenades, Xenomorphs their deadly claws and tails, and Predators have their plasma casters, spears, crossbows, and others.
Misc.
Multiplayer matches are one of the game’s most important elements. In them, we can use unique features of all the races when facing other players in the many game modes available. It is crucial to be cautious and patient during the online matches.
