Albatroz Description
Albatroz is an adventure game with RPG and survival elements, dedicated to the theme of travel. It was developed by the independent Brazilian studio Among Giants, in whose portfolio we can find Distortions released in 2018.
Plot
Albatroz takes us to an extremely picturesque, fictional land. The main character of the game is Isla, who decides to abandon her boring city life and set off on a journey through the so-called Forbidden Lands. The protagonist's goal is to find her brother, who disappeared during an expedition to the titular peak. Isla will not be alone in this, as she can count on the support of her faithful companions.
Gameplay
In Albatroz we view the action from a third person perspective (TPP). The adventure takes us through diverse and eye-catching places, the exploration of which is the main element of the gameplay. We explore large areas, such as sandy coasts, plains stretching to the horizon, or frosty mountains. The protagonist can travel on foot or behind the wheel of an off-road vehicle.
Given that the trails Isla moves along are full of challenges and various dangers, along the way we must learn to skillfully use items and abilities (which we expand as we progress), as well as gather necessary resources and manage them. We develop the heroine in the game, which over time increases her capabilities.
In addition, we must take care of Isla and her current state is described by five statistics - health, hunger and thirst, as well as the condition of her arms and legs. To maintain them at an optimal level, our character must eat, drink, and sleep regularly. Interestingly, these statistics decrease during movement, so there is nothing to prevent us from enjoying the views to our heart's content after a long and difficult climb.
Isla gets to know the inhabitants of the Forbidden Lands, learning more about this country, nurturing relationships with her companions and ensuring invaluable support. Her friends have individual skills that may prove useful at key moments of the journey.
