Age of Empires Online Description
Note: On July 1, 2014, the further development of the game was discontinued and its servers were closed.
Age of Empires Online is the latest installment of the legendary series of strategic real-time games. According to the name, the whole game is focused on multiplayer and social aspects. Robot Entertainment studio is responsible for the production, which includes people who worked on the previous parts of the cycle.
The game is a combination of the identification element of the series, i.e. extensive RTS mechanics with a rich social aspect. We will find here the classic features of Age of Empires, including building cities, raw materials management and fighting with other players, but also introduced elements of MMO.
The capital of our civilization exists in the world 24 hours a day, and craftsmen's workshops continuously produce the materials needed to create objects or new buildings. In addition to our capital, in Age of Empires Online we can travel to other cities of the ancient world. There are shops there and various side tasks are commissioned, which, like the main missions, we can carry out with our colleagues. In addition, the game provides a special difficulty level mission for the "ambitious" called Elite.
Graphics presents a new, more cartoon-like visual style. At the same time, each element is refined in the smallest detail, and the engine uses all the latest technological advances. The game is highly integrated with Games for Windows Live, allowing for easy communication and finding other players willing to play in competitive or co-operative modes.
In Age of Empires Online we can play for free, but the free version does not reflect the full potential of the game. For new civilizations, additions to existing ones, additional missions or decorations we have to pay with the real currency.
