Age of Mythology

Age of Mythology is a strategy game by Ensemble Studios, the creators of the Age of Empires series. It offers a fully-3D engine with detailed visuals, such as animated water and shadows. The action takes place in ancient times, where we can find lots of elements inspired by the classic mythology. We may choose one of the nine available civilizations, including Greeks who worship Zeus, Poseidon or Hades, Egyptians divided among Ra, Seth and Isis, or the Nords who are ruled by Thor, Odin and Loki. Each of these three cultures have also three minor gods that provide unique inventions and units. The latter is especially numerous, and are accessed by skillful economy management and reaching subsequent development levels.

Due to the mythological atmosphere, we will fight Cyclopes or pray to Zeus to strike the overwhelming enemy forces with a thunder. Much like in the Age of Empires series, the game also makes use of such things as special nation bonuses, extensive technology trees (unique for every nation), complete economy model, combat system that supports large armies, advanced AI, random map generator and an intuitive user interface. In total, the developers prepared 32 epic scenarios that form the single player campaign, as well as 15 types of maps meant for multiplayer gameplay. Moreover, Age of Mythology comes with an extensive map editor.
