Age of Empires II: HD Edition Expansions & DLCs

The third expansion to Age of Empires II HD, a remade edition of a popular real-time strategy game, developed as a joint effort between SkyBox Labs and Forgotten Empires. The new add-on introduces four Asian civilizations: Burmese, Khmers, Malays, and Vietnamese, each with its unique units. Additionally, the game received two new universal units – battle elephants and imperial infantry. The core of the add-on are four campaigns taking place in South East Asia. Aside from that, Age of Empires II HD: Rise of the Rajas brings a completely new type of terrain (mangrove forests), five new random, special, and historical maps, improved unit AI and new objects for the in-game editor. The DLC also incorporates a set of fixes that were prepared as part of the expansion, and then released as a free upgrade for the owners of the core game. The list of fixes includes improved network code and the option to resume interrupted matches.

The second expansion to Age of Empires II: HD Edition from 2013. Unlike the first DLC, which was a commercial remake of a fan-made modification to the original Age of Empires II, The African Kingdoms was built from ground up entirely by the developers of the original game, Hidden Path Entertainment. The expansion takes us once more to the Middle Ages, however, this time we travel to a completely different region of the world – the African continent. There, you take command of such nations as the Berbers, Malians, and Ethiopians, as well as the Portuguese. Each nation has its unique architecture, technology, and units (e.g. camel archers). In terms of gameplay mechanics, the DLC introduces an innovation - varied surfaces. Your choice to construct buildings on rock, sand, or other terrain will now affect the construction's stability.

The first official expansion for the remastered edition of the cult-classic strategy game – Age of Empires II: HD Edition, developed by Hidden Path Entertainment. The expansion is a commercial version of Forgotten Empires, a fan-made modification, and was developed as a joint effort between SkyBox Labs Vancouver and the authors of the modification. The add-on takes us to Southern Europe, introducing four new medieval campaigns, each dedicated to a different historical house (Alaric, Sforza, Bari, and Dracula). Aside from that, we are introduced to five new civilizations (Italian, Indian, Slavic, Hungarian, and Inca), along with unique troops, buildings, and techs. When it comes to mechanics, the add-on offers four times bigger maps than the core game, and introduces a number of fixes to balance and enemy AI. Multiplayer enthusiasts are treated with new game modes, such as Treaty or Capture the Relic.
