Acaratus is a tactical turn-based RPG game. This is the debut production of Swedish developers from the Nodbrim Interactive studio.
The action was set in a world that until recently resembled a standard fantasy universe, with a technological level corresponding to the Middle Ages. This situation changed during the greatest war in the history of this land, when the genius Acarat invented a steam engine by the name of Acarat. It has made it possible to mechanically lift heavy loads and, even more importantly, to do so at high speeds. The emergence of these solutions triggered an industrial revolution and allowed the superpowers to mass produce powerful combat robots, which quickly became the main tool for endless wars. Players play the role of the commander of an organization established in order to finally end the conflict.
As befits a tactical RPG, in Acaratus we are mainly engaged in turn-based battles, during which we will take command of a small robot unit. The game encourages you to keep up the pace of the game by using a system in which the faster we finish the turn, the more action points we will get in the next one. This was balanced in such a way that it was most profitable to develop a plan for a few moves forward and then implement it in a flash.
When an opponent gives orders, we deal with buying special cards for command points to provide helpful bonuses. Each robot has a specific set of them and in this way we pick a deck from which we draw cards during battles. The construction of your own combat machines also plays a key role. We assemble all of them ourselves, selecting individual parts and assembling specific weaponry on them. The option of improving each of these elements has not been forgotten either. All this has been properly balanced, so that, for example, equipping the robot with a powerful shield slows down its movements.
