The Hard-Earned Success that Nearly Killed Resident Evil
One of the best – and in many people's opinion, definitely the best – instalments of the Resident Evil series was created in pain, producing not only the original game, but also two others. And also driving the whole series into a dead end.

Resident Evil 4 HD Description
Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition for PC is a remastered edition of the fourth instalment of the legendary survival horror series developed by Capcom from Japan. The original version was released in 2005 on Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2, then it was ported to e.g. PC, Nintendo Wii, and iOS. Once the refreshed version published in 2011 on PlayStation 3 Xbox 360 turned out to be a huge success, the creators decided to prepare also a PC version and make the best use of contemporary computer hardware.
Plot
You assume the role of Leon S. Kennedy known from the second instalment, who is a former policeman from Racoon City. Now he works as a secret agent in the US government and is in charge of, for example, safety of the president’s family. The hero is sent to Europe with a secret mission and his quest concerns saving the daughter of the president, who went there to study and mysteriously disappeared. The trace leads to the town of Pueblo in Spain, but once Leon got there, he realised that there are many more mysteries behind the whole story. To reveal them, Leon will have to face hundreds of mutants infected with a dangerous parasite called “las plagas” and fight a sect, led by charismatic Osmund Saddler, which controls minds of the village’s inhabitants.
Mechanics
Mechanically, Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition is a faithful copy of the version from 2005. The action is seen from the third-person perspective and the camera hangs behind the hero’s back. Leon fights enemies with an impressive arsenal of weapons, including machine guns, rifles, shotguns, grenade launchers, and even a crossbow with explosive bolts. The game is supplemented with numerous, yet quite easy, puzzles, boss fights, and impressive Quick Time Events sequences, during which you need to push buttons displayed on the screen.
Technical aspects
Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition is different from its original version in visibly improved and refreshed visuals. The developer converted graphics to HD, updated sharpness, lighting, and details of texture. Fully optimised panoramic view runs in 60 fraps per second in resolution even up to 2560x1600. The creators made sure that the game is compatible with game controllers and integrated it with Steam, which ensured additional set of achievements to be unlocked, an option of saving the game in the cloud, Steam Trading Cards, and global rankings of players. Also, the game features an additional content published earlier, including an alternative ending called Separate Ways.

Resident Evil Series
Resident Evil is a series of Japanese survival horror films published by the Capcom studio. Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara are mainly responsible for its creation. It had its beginning on March 22, 1996, with the release of the game Resident Evil (also known as Biohazard) for the PlayStation console. It was during its promotion that the term survival horror was coined. The prototype of the series is the game released in 1989 Sweet Home, based on the film of the same name. Fujiwara himself was responsible for it, and many elements, such as QTE sequences or inventory management, were transferred to the series. Biohazard. Since then, the series has grown steadily, gaining more game installments, as well as film, animated and comic book and book adaptations.
