Resident Evil 4 Remake May Have Changed Developer and Concept
According to new rumors, the main developer responsible for the remake of Resident Evil 4 has changed. The project is said to have been taken over by Capcom's in-house team, which intends to make a lot of changes in the game in comparison with the original.
Rumors about a remake of Resident Evil 4, one of the best installments of Capcom's series, have been making rounds for some time . The latest reports suggest that the project has changed developers and the new team has a different vision. The source is VGC, which has a good reputation when it comes to rumors related to the publisher's games. The website was the first to report, among other things, that the cooperation with the company was renewed by designer Tatsuya Minami and after a few months this information turned out to be true.
According to the latest reports, also confirmed by insider AestheticGamer, M-Two studio , known for last year's Resident Evil 3, is no longer the main team working on the refreshed Resident Evil 4. This role was to be taken over by Capcom's internal team - Division 1, which is responsible for the development of the major installments of Devil May Cry and Resident Evil.
The reason for this change was the dissatisfaction of Capcom's executives with the direction the project was taking. M-Two wanted to develop a faithful remake of Resident Evil 4, partly because the changes the team made to RE3 (including cutting some of the elements from the original campaign) met with a negative response from fans. The publisher, however, has a different vision of the game and wants the new version of the fourth installment of the series to offer fresh solutions and change the story and locations. As an example is provided the expanded role of Mr. X in the remake of RE2, which proved to be a hit.
M-Two will continue to work on the game, but the studio's role has been reduced to assisting Division 1 developers, the latter being currently busy making major changes to Resident Evil 4 remake, which will extend the development cycle. Previous reports spoke of a planned 2022 release, but now 2023 seems a more realistic date.
However, these developments should not be a cause for concern about the quality of the project. The new versions of Resident Evil 2 and RE3 also underwent major changes during development, and ultimately turned out to be noteworthy titles. In addition, Division 1 still employs many of the people who participated in the creation of the original Resident Evil 4, so the game is in good hands.
