Neverwinter Nights 2 Description
Neverwinter Nights 2 is a sequel to the hit role-playing game released in the middle of 2002. Just like in the case of the predecessor, the game is based on the 3rd edition of Dungeons & Dragons. The game was developed by Obsidian Entertainment that previously created such RPGs like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The story of the sequel takes place in the well-known world of Forgotten Realms. Although the game offers an extensive single player campaign, the developers didn’t forget about the fans of online gameplay.
The single player campaigns starts a few years after the events of Neverwinter Nights. The war-torn land didn’t know peace for long, and the Sword Coast is at the verge of war yet again. The game tells the story of a lone hero who, as a result of some unpleasant events, turns out to be in possession of a very powerful relic. The campaign is divided into three chapters and is full of plot twists. There is no shortage of side quests, as well.
The aforementioned multiplayer consists first and foremost of extensive toolkit that allows the players to create their very own adventure and then invite others to play together. The mods can also be single characters, pieces of equipment or even scripts that change the behavior of NPCs.
The character development system remains pretty much the same, though it does not mean that it was left unimproved. Our characters can take advantage of new kinds of skills and previously unknown spells. Obsidian Entertainment also prepared some new character classes. Moreover, contrary to Neverwinter Nights, the sequel allows us to take a three-member party with the protagonist (and gives us full control of their action), not only a single henchman. The game is powered by the Electron engine that supports normal mapping, dynamic lighting and Pixel Shader 3.0, among other things.
