Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir Description
Storm of Zehir is the second official expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2. It is based on such classic RPGs as Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale, especially the latter.
Story-wise, the game is based on Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 mixed with a little of the 4th edition. For example: it introduces a new god to the game world. The action takes place after the events of Neverwinter Nights 2. As it turns out, defeating the King of Shadows was merely a beginning of a long road to restoring order in the Sword Coast. Of course, trading guilds quicky took advantage of the postwar chaos, thanks to which they constantly expand their influence. Our party steps into this mess, and gets to join forces with merchants to create a huge trading empire. Moreover, a faction of Yuan-Ti works somewhere in the shadows.
Instead of a predefined scenario, we got a world living on its own, influenced by the decisions we make. The freedom of exploration is truly great and resembles that known from Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale. We can therefore traverse the Sword Coast and Chult without restrictions.
Storm of Zehir introduces lots of novelties, such as new spells, races and classes, as well as some changes in the gameplay mechanics. Another element from the classics mentioned above that was implemented in Neverwinter Nights 2 is the ability to create a whole team according to our liking. It is only up to us what kind of characters will we build. It is wise to give it some thinking, though, because combat is now more challenging and cooperation is additionally rewarded. The dialogue system has also been reworked. Now all of the characters and their skills have an impact on the outcome of conversations.
Storm of Zehir offers about 20 hours of additional gameplay.
