After the conversation with Beshka and Malcolm, look around the area in search of a shelter. Go to the left side and you will see a corpse, rotting on the ground (Corpse - Look). After you've done it, search the corpse (Corpse - Search), and you should be able to pick up the purse, which will come in handy later on in the game (Gold - Grab). Afterwards, move along the recess to get into the cave.
After entering the lair of the dragon, start doing the button sequences appearing on the screen.

Look at the tree sign, by pressing the Marking - Look at, and then compare it with your necklace by selecting Necklace - Examine and Necklace - Open. You will notice, that a portion of the drawing on the necklace resembles a tree. You must use it in a way so that it matches the outline of the map. Place the necklace on the middle field (Marking - Use Necklace With), and then rotate it so that the lines of the forest matches the lines on the necklace.
