On this page of the guide, you will learn how character development works in Forspoken. We show how to learn new spells and upgrade already obtained ones, how to increase the heroine's stamina, and how to increase/improve her statistics.
Mana
In Forspoken, Mana is one of the main resources necessary for character development, because it is with Mana Points you unlock new skills or upgrade already obtained ones.
Here are some basic ways of getting Mana:
- Gaining experience points and leveling up the character.
- Collecting Mana Pools - these are mana sources (screenshot above) that can be found in many places and usually appear in clusters.
- Completing side activities.
Magic
The Magic tab is the menu where you can buy new skills or upgrade already obtained ones - make sure you have the needed amount of Mana to buy a chosen skill/upgrade.
If a bought skill didn't work out for you, you can always unlearn it and retrieve spent Mana and allocate it to a different skill.
Stamina
You can find the stamina gauge in the lower left corner of the screen, above the health bar. In Forspoken, stamina is used to fuel Magic Parkour, dodging, and climbing over obstacles. Your hero doesn't have infinite stamina, which means if she runs out, she will have a harder time avoiding enemy attacks. In Forspoken, there are following ways of increasing total stamina:
- Completing further quests from the main storyline - (there are as many as 4 optional stamina charges to obtain during the course of the campaign).
- Visiting POIs (Points of Interest) and completing side activities.
Points of Interest - improving statistics
When exploring the world of Athia in Forspoken, you will come across different POIs - some of them, e.g. Monuments, can permanently strengthen your hero. To have an easier time searching for such locations, look for places marked on the map with two small arrows - these POIs offer additional bonuses when their task is completed.
Equipment
The heroine of Forspoken, Frey, can wear two main pieces of equipment - a cape and a necklace. Different items belonging to one of these two categories can be found all around the world of Athia - simply look for the right icons on the map. You can further upgrade them using crafting.
Nail paint can also be counted as an item of equipment, as Frey can paint special patterns on her nails that increase stats and apply various effects. To get new painting schematics, visit corresponding POIs (Points of Interest).
Crafting
In Forspoken, crafting becomes available from Chapter 3 of the story. From that moment onward, you can make use of the ingredients you've collected to add effects and bonuses to your equipped items. To be able to use the crafting menu, you need to find a workbench - they can be found, for example, in safe zones (Pilgrim's Refuges). New crafting recipes (e.g. for new effects) can be bought from the book merchant in Cipal.
