Game Guide - Basic hints Fable II Guide

Basic hints
- You can't die. Although every knockout adds a scar to your face, which lowers your attraction level;
- If you want to collect every secret, try to choose the Good path until you get the "Workship" quest (you will be given it for being Good enough). It is crucial, because it is very hard to earn Good points while being at maximum Evil;
- Complete the Temple of Light missions (before those given by the Temple of Shadows) before entering the The Spire. If you won't do that, you won't be able to get your hand on one of the legendary weapons;
- Daichi is the most powerful weapon for melee combat in the game, and can be acquired easily;
- You can cancel some of your skills, and you will be given back a portion of the experience points you spent on them.
- You can't cancel augments, they are permanently set into your weapon. Try to choose wisely and think twice before you decide which are best;
- If you are low on gold, try to be up-to-date with the sales, sometimes some merchants are short on supplies, and you can sell your items with much profit;
- The most useful spell is Inferno. Enemies are very often vulnerable to fire, and die quickly from this spell.
Combat
The combat it Fable 2 is very convenient, with one button for each type of attack - melee combat, firing guns and magic. With achieving higher levels of skills require holding down the button for longer in order to increase the power of the attack (or level of the spell in case of magic) and deal much more damage. There is no sense in investing too much points into Will skills, just choose a couple of them. I'd recommend Time Control (level 1-3), Inferno (level 5), Shock (level 5) and Raise Dead (level 4). As for strength, you should max out all three abilities, as you will use it as often as magic. Personally I didn't use pistols, but a fast pistol with a big magazine is useful in some situations.
Gestures
Gestures can be gained in several ways. You gain some just my advancing the plot, for getting enough renown points, or good/evil level. You can learn much gestures by reading books in the library at the Bowerstone Market (more books keep appearing all the time). Search chests, excavations, get presents from people. There are many possibilities. You can gain some of them only by playing Fable 2 Pub Games (on XBLA), or from Game Masters located throughout the world.
With the help of gestures, you can change people's attitude towards you. Every character likes different gestures and have their favourite presents and places they especially like. Thanks to this information you can easily and quickly gain the love of a certain character (which can lead to marriage or a disobliging meeting) or gain a bargain price at a merchant.
Sales
Always have an eye opened for sales that will let you buy high quality equipment for a relatively small price. Sometimes there are situations working in the other direction - when merchants are low on supply, they'll pay loads of gold for certain items. It's a very good option if you're low on gold, you just have to make sure to sell your items before the sale ends, because they last only for a certain amount of time.
Jobs
From time to time, you will be given job offers. They are useful in the first phase of the game in which you need gold, and can also serve as a little change in between completing the main quests. We can distinguish various types of work. You can hunt dangerous monsters (or bandits) in the name of justice, you can work for an underground organization getting rid of certain targets (civil), recruit villagers according to certain criteria, or take on a little more monotonous, but equally well paid job as a lumberjack, blacksmith or a barman. The essence of those mentioned last is just to hit the green bar above you in the right moment. Every job has a manual which you should read before beginning. Those jobs also offer a system of promotions and multipliers, which will increase your income by a bunch, if you get the job done well.
Properties
Investing in properties and shops/stalls is very profitable. It is possibly the best way to make cash in whole Albion, and it requires a big budget at start, but on the other hand it will start making profit quite quickly. You gain cash every 5 minutes (in real life, not those in-game). While buying estates, look at the number of stars - the bigger, the more popular the house is, and the bigger the income, as well as the buying price. Apart from shops it is also wise to buy the most frequently visited inns (Bowerstone, Oakfield, Bloodstone).
Pub Games
Another way to relax (and also to gain gold, or gestures) is to play the Pub Games, which are offered by Game Masters in whole Albion, and also on XBLA. In the second case, you can export your Hero and earn money for him, or create a new one and then import him to the world of Fable 2. There is a thorough manual regarding every game, so I won't describe them.
