Geralt, Ciri, or maybe our own witcher?. Witcher 4 wishlist – what we'd like to see
Table of Contents
With regard to the potential new protagonist of the new game, there are as many ideas about it as there are people involved in the discussion. It's hard to find a solution that would make everyone happy, so we can assume that no matter what the ultimate decision will be from the devs, we probably will be surprised. Geralt seems to be the obvious choice, but the probability of meeting him yet again seems rather low. In addition, the teaser shows a lynx Witcher school medallion, rather than wolf (which is the school of Geralt). This fact seems to indicate a very big change, same as the "new saga beings" caption.
An interesting solution would be the possibility of creating your own witcher in the character wizard, perhaps, same as in Cyberpunk, within an established character framework. Another interesting solution would be several protagonists to play at certain moments of the game, or freely, as in GTA 5. This could allow us to play as Geralt, Ciri and even our own character, in the same game. The biggest challenge would probably be establishing a specific, completely new protagonist, unknown from the books. It would be difficult, nigh impossible, for such a character to replace Geralt's charisma or Ciri's charm, but on the other hand, CDPR is famous for creating compelling characters.
A robust story with big decisions
This is where we feel the most confident about CDPR. They do not disappoint in terms of stories and always provide a captivating tale that can take all of your attention away from any side activities. Note, however, that seem the most proficient with shorter, more down-to-earth stories – most players probably remember the plot of Hearts of Stone and the Bloody Baron thread best, much better than the somewhat opaque story of chasing the Wild Hunt, which boiled down to running through a forest after a few dudes in scary armors.
We don't want to be saving the world, nor the Witcher universe. Instead, we expect a more personal story. We are also waiting for important, thought-provoking choices along the way and a robust, non-linear plot. To this day, we remember the dilemmas from The Witcher 2, where we were forced to side with one of two, completely antagonized characters, and we'd like to see many more of moments like these. We don't have to worry about the quality of side quests – that's one thing that CDPR never flunked.
