What's up with 1+2?
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is another, after Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled remake of classic games from the early PlayStation era. In this case, the team from Vicarious Visions (responsible for the aforementioned Crash Bandicoot revamp) was tasked with creating a remake that would combine the contents of the first two installments of the cult-classic skateboard game series Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
What exactly is THPS1+2 about?
Although the visual setting will be build from ground-up to provide as modern an experience as possible, the creators want to faithfully recreate the physics and controls of a skateboard. This included increasing the number of goals to be achieved on individual maps and adding tricks that debuted in later editions of the series. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 will include all levels, skaters, and most of the classic music tracks from the original two games.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
I was one of the kids who loved the original THPS games on PC. Despite awkward controls, I would spin high scores and max out every available level. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series certainly boasts one of the best soundtracks in the history of games – I will run the remake with great pleasure, especially since it promises to be fantastic! I hope the creators also sneak some new ideas and secrets. Hopefully the game will be a success – it would be great to see remakes of THUG 1&2 as well, or an entirely new entry in the series.
Greg Misztal
I really like the idea of Activision refreshing old and cherished brands. Three years ago, I was delighted to return to my childhood memories with the new Crash, and now I can't wait to return to my youthful days in an overhauled Tony Hawk. I'm definitely going for high scores, crazy combos, and discovering secrets. The game promises to be really good, and there's a chance the fans will quickly forget the complete flop that THPS5 turned out to be.
