What's Bloodborne about?

Bloodborne is a title that's certainly already well known to fans of the Dark Souls series, although it also made a lot of noise among a much broader audience. Although it uses the same mechanics as the flagship FromSoftware's series, it is set in a completely separate universe. Here, the action takes place in Yharnam, a dark 19th-century metropolis stylized as a Victorian one. Its inhabitants have suffered from an unknown disease that turns them into monstrous beasts. The main character sets off on a journey to find out who is responsible for it and how the did it, along the way fighting not only with the beasts.

The Hunter, as the protagonist is called, is in Yharnam for a good reason. Searching for a cure for his ailment, aka Paleblood, he lands in the midst of a plague haunting the city. Thanks to the conclusion of a pact with a mysterious man, he begins the journey, which seems like a bad dream full of secrets, which can only be discovered through careful exploration of the surroundings.

Why is it worth playing?

The game is another accomplishment of Hidetaki Miyazaki, responsible for both Dark Souls and Demon's Souls, which established the entire soulslike genre. This alone will be reason enough for many players to reach for it. Critically acclaimed, it won the 2015 GOTY and was described as the one that brought Lovecraftian horror back to life, also widely considered the best game by FromSoftware. If you've ever got into a soulslike game, Bloodborne is definitely for you.
