L.A. Noire in our encyclopedia. 13 games that sunk their dev teams
Table of Contents
Detective games are rather a thing of the past today. Nevertheless, there are still good productions of this genre available, including the very original LA Noire. This is an unusual game held in noir style, popular in cinema, and almost non-existent in video games. So if you want to become a 1940s detective, I wholeheartily recommend the game from Team Bondi. Especially since it remains the only game this studio developed.
This Australian studio existed for 8 years and only delivered this game, LA Noire, dated 2011. Still, the game was quite successful, certainly critically acclaimed, so theoretically, there was no financial problems involved. After the release, however, it turned out that things had been going badly for Team Bondi for a long time. Various controversies related to quite appalling working conditions have surfaced. The main problem was crunch. Subsequently, Rockstar Games as a publisher resigned from the services of this studio.
The developers couldn't find any other company that would be interested in financing the production of a sequel. Soon after, in 2011, the studio was acquired by Kennedy Miller Mitchell and eventually renamed KMM Interactive Entertainment. However, it did not work under the new banner for long, as it ceased operations merely two years later.
