The Outer Worlds. Best RPGs available on GamePass in 2022

Table of Contents

  1. Release year: 2019
  2. Developer: Obsidian Entertainment

Obsidian is usually associated with isometric classic fantasy RPGs, i.e. the Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny series. The experienced American creators, however, have also developed a three-dimensional science fiction game (KotOR 2) or the post-apocalyptic Fallout: New Vegas created on the Gamebryo engine. The experience from these two games helped them enter a completely new turf and make a game that hadn't been released in a long time.

The Outer Worlds combines elements of a tactical, post-apocalyptic RPG, FPS science-fiction, and even classic fantasy. At the same time, Obsidian always seem to keep distance from their own games. The Outer Worlds are borderline parody at times, but they don't do it often enough for the player to stop taking the events presented here seriously.

You really get attached to your comrades, and parting with The Outer Worlds isn't easy. Because even if it isn't a typical tearjerker, you can actually shed a tear after reaching the finale. At least in my case. And I'm thrilled that The Outer Worlds 2 seems to be coming fast. The specific date hasn't been announced yet, but since the work has been going on for over 2 years... Well... When we finally have the sequel, it will probably also be included in the gamepass offer. For now, we can play the sensational original at will.

The vibe somewhat similar to The Outer Worlds manages to preserve the Edge of Eternity . Although the game is definitely more indie, and you should not expect any visual bells and whistles, it can surprise you with bold combinations. Both in terms of the aesthetic concept and the plot itself.
