The idea behind this article was to focus on the most catastrophic glitches, and that disqualified several strong pretenders to the bug throne. We didn't have Assassin's Creed: Unity , and No Man's Sky. As for Fallout 76, however, we faced a dilemma of a different kind. Even if we only consider fatal bugs that break the game, the game from Bethesda still offers a wide variety to choose from.
The scenario of many glitches was very similar. There would be a bug that would allow players to gain a significant advantage . It would be fixed, and the people, who exploited them would get banned – even if they would have reported the glitch to devs. No matter if you knew it was an exploit; hell, you could even get a gift from another player and get banned.
That was the case of the hidden developer room, that gave you access to every item in the game; the players who found it by chance, had to beg admins not to get banned. Bans were also awarded to people who duplicated their items, taking advantage of an error that was eliminated... and then reintroduced in an update. Even a member of the community who actively supported the developers, finding bugs in the game and reporting them to the developers was banned.
Another time, a special storage box for possessions, one of the perks of paying for an additional subscription fee, deleted all its content – usually the "lifetime achievements" of players – its main purpose was to make it easier to store all the resources. Players' possessions in this game were never safe – one of the hacks allowed other users to steal everything you had.
During the short life of this game, fans also experienced a leak of their personal data, a new error allowing NPCs to rob players' bodies, or the famous collectible edition scandal (where the collector's edition bag, advertised as a sturdy bag made of canvas, turned out a flimsy, nylon thing). Life in the post-apocalyptic wasteland is definitely brutal and full of ambushes.
