Luc Besson has made both masterpieces (such as Leon the Professional or The Fifth Element) and quite a lot of forgettable films, most of them in the 21st century. One of the titles in the latter category is Valerian and the city of a thousand planets. This is a peculiar film that doesn't exactly know what it wants to be. On the one hand, the comic book vibe and the audiovisual layer are its great advantages, while poorly selected cast (the main role is performed by the popular model Cara Delevingne) and the script make it boring! It's colorful, it's beautiful, but no one is too interested in the science fiction here...
However, there's one, very good moment here, which has already gone down in the history of contemporary cinema. It's about an impressive, almost erotic scene with the participation of Rihanna, who plays here a space singer. For a few minutes, the artist charms with her unearthly vocals, and thanks to equally unearthly abilities, she changes her outfit every few seconds.
The main character watches her sing and dance with riveted attention. Her performance is impressive, and at the same time it is a feast for the senses! Such a show rarely happens in cinema, and is an interesting example of film voyeurism.
