Black Hole devours Fortnite. 10 best video game moments of 2019

In the second half of the passing year, Fortnite seemed to have a problem catching a breath – the income from microtransactions plummeted, Twitch audience numbers decreased significantly and the Battle Royale subgenre began to lose its momentum. One has to admit, though, that Epic Games was able to close the first “chapter” of their game in a way that brought it back onto everyone’s lips. This refers to the season ten finale, in which the company held an event called “The End”… and deleted Fortnite.
And the way they did it! Heaven began to crack, opening way for a rain of bullets, the last of which threw all players up. Then, in the middle of the map, a black hole appeared that slowly begun to drain the entire virtual world, until only a small white spot was left amidst the sea of blackness. The servers were shut down, and the related social media accounts were being cleared. Nothing was left of Fortnite.
Not for long, though, as after two days the game returned with a huge (nearly 10GB!) update adding a new map with 13 new locations, another weapon set and some gameplay novelties – like the ability to use naval vehicles or go fishing. But most of all “The End” proved how big of a phenomenon the production of Epic Games really is – the number of people watching it live surpassed six million, and right after Fortnite was sucked into the black hole, the internet was flooded with related memes. In most of them people wished it had stayed that way… but we all know very well there is no such thing as bad publicity. Whatever you say about this game – its creators know how to make everyone talk about it.
