X-Desert and Textures Pack is a modification for Gothic developed by Xardas52. This project replaces the textures for the game's world – the mild climate of the Valley of Mines is replaced by hot deserts similar to those found in Gothic II: The Night of the Raven. The author has also added a lot of new types of vegetation including palm trees and cactuses. Some of the character models have also been changed. All of these changes are purely cosmetic but they can be a nice change for those who want to beat the game again.
The mod has its own installer – X-Desert_MSHTEX_PACK_0.2.exe file. The installer requires you to select the folder in which the game is installed (e.g. "…Program Files\Piranha Bytes\Gothic"). After that you have to run X-Desert_MSHTEX_PACK - Patch_0.2b.exe and point the folder again. Lastly, you have to activate the mod by using Gothic Player Kit.
