Rooftops Campaign Remastered is a mod for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, created by SPi-99.

Description:

The project offers a remastered version of the iconic COD4 Rooftops, which was the largest and most famous fan-made campaign for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Rooftops Remastered is a complete overhaul of the original Rooftops Campaign. Everything is re-scripted from scratch, giving the mod a more upgraded and player-friendly experience. All level geometry has been been heavily optimized and polished. Character and prop models have been changed to higher definition ones from newer games to make them consistent with Rooftops 2. The weapons have been expanded to include the Rooftops 2 weapons instead of being limited to COD4 weapons.

WHAT HAS CHANGED:

Here are the main upgrades the mod provides in a list:

  1. Entirely re-scripted everything, thus revamping the whole experience.
  2. In-depth re-optimization of the geometry of the maps.
  3. All weapons are replaced with Rooftops 2 weapons.
  4. Better character models for consistency with Rooftops 2.
  5. Expansive use of cool new animated sequences.
  6. Re-done and better quality dialogues and cinematics.
  7. Skip system for long dialogues and cinematics.
  8. UI and HUD from Rooftops 2.
  9. New progression system and achievement unlockables, just like Rooftops 2.
  10. Finally, it includes a new version of the Rooftops Revisited level,
  11. with the theme changed to WW2 and a Gun Game mode exclusive to that map.

Make sure to not miss the WW2 Rooftops Revisited level.

To unlock it, find the main bonus level by completing a very obvious Easter Egg, and finish the main story of the mod.

HOW TO INSTALL:

Follow the guide according to your Call of Duty 4 language version.

If your game is in English, follow the English version.

If it's not, follow the Non-English version.

ENGLISH GAME VERSION:

Copy all files and folders in this download (main, mods, zone, rooftops1.cmd)

Go to your Call of Duty 4 root folder (where iw3sp.exe is located)

Paste them there.

To start the mod, simply run rooftops1.cmd FROM the cod4 root folder (it must be in the same place where iw3sp.exe is to work properly)

If the mod tells you that it's an incompatible game version, try to contact SPi in discord or other platforms.

NON-ENGLISH GAME VERSION:

Copy all files and folders in this download (main, mods, zone, rooftops1.cmd)

Go to your Call of Duty 4 root folder (where iw3sp.exe is located)

Paste them there.

Go to where Call of Duty 4 is installed. Find and open "zone" folder.

There you should be able to see 2 folders.

english and [yourlanguage].

Move ALL files from english to -> [yourlanguage] folder.

[yourlanguage] folder will be any language your game is set in. For example, spanish, russian and so on.

Go to where Call of Duty 4 is installed. Find and open mods folder. Then open Rooftops1 folder.

In there, create a folder called "backup".

Move the files mod.ff and r1fonts.iwd in the folder "backup" you just created.

Find mods/Rooftops1/non_english/

Move the mod.ff file you will find in there,

right outside of non_english so it's located in mods/Rooftops1

To start the mod, simply run rooftops1.cmd FROM the cod4 root folder

(it must be in the same place where iw3sp.exe is to work properly)

If the mod tells you that it's an incompatible game version,

try to contact SPi in discord or other platforms.

HD TEXTURES (optional):

After you are done installing, go to cod4/mods/Rooftops1/h1hd and read the "how to use.txt" file.

It provides you with an explanation on how to use the HD textures, but be warned of crashes.

Do it at your own risk.

GAMEPLAY:

Rooftops Remastered offers a variety of gameplay options during a classic remake-remaster-rework of the old rooftops campaign.

The gameplay and event flow is much smoother, more player friendly, and with more shortcuts and better scripted sequences.

The game starts with the first introductory story level "A Day At The Office" which is a short introduction to the plot and the characters.

Player is asked to try out a silenced M9. However, this time it is optional.

The second story level has an infamous stealth sequence which was frustratingly linear and unforgiving to mistakes in the original version.

The remaster fixes all that and allows for a much more free and open approach of that sequence. Mission fail punishments throughout the mod are significantly more trivial this time around.

The third story level features extensive gunfights and a variety of weapons to chose from. Players will be allowed to create a customized weapon class and fight through the rest of the level using these weapons. The objective flow and gunfights are severely re-worked to a much more optimized experience.

The fourth and final story level features a lot of improvements as well. The sniper cover fire sequence has a much better health system for the allies you cover, and the rest of the objectives are re-scripted with player-friendliness in mind.

EASTER EGGS:

The mod includes plenty of bonuses and secrets for players to discover.

There is an integrated achievement system, similar to Rooftops 2 and The Deal.

Achievements can be unlocked by completing levels, finishing secret tasks and objectives,

collecting items, and unlocking new bonus levels.

While all four levels feature achievement easter eggs, the third level specifically has a secret objective sequence that players have to follow throughought the level, which if completed, unlocks the first bonus level. If the bonus level is completed in addition to the rest of the story, the second bonus level also becomes available in the level select menu.

The last level features two easter eggs that gives players access to a special mini side-mode, and the "after credits scene" both of which have to be discovered by player after completing secret tasks in the level.

The first easter egg level is a short WWII themed rooftops mission. Nothing too special about it.

The second easter egg level however, offers extensive gunfights with a good variety of WWII guns to chose from. There is also an optional arcade mode exclusive to this level that player can enable through a crate in the beginning level. After the level is completed, another crate gives access to a GUN GAME mode which is also exclusive to this level, allowing players to experience all of the WWII guns of the level in sequence.
