- In any moment in the game, you can switch between the remastered and the classic version of the game from 1993. The two version vary with their graphics and also with interface design. The story stays the same, which makes this game guide usable for both the versions.
- As opposed to most classic adventure games, Day of the Tentacle Remastered is to some extent non-linear. Most actions that are connected to story-based quests can be completed in any order. If you have troubles deciding what to do next, just deal with a different quest. It happens sometimes that the puzzles are connected to one another and only solving one of them can lead to solving another.
- Collect everything you find. There is a rule in the game - every item (even ones that are seemingly useless) has its destination and will surely turn out to be useful later in the game.
- The puzzles in the game are not very abstract. If you find yourself stuck on one of them, look at the items that you have in your inventory and think about how you could use each one of them. Also, think of places that you've already visited and the characters that you've met. You will surely come up with an idea that will lead you to the solution
- During the gameplay, you will often see short cut-scenes that show the events going on in the meantime. A lot of them may be hiding valuable tips for puzzles that await you in the future. You shouldn't skip them. Moreover, there is an achievement for watching all the cut-scenes in the game.
- If you feel tired, you can always take a break and play the original version - Maniac Mansion, which was released in 1987, before Day of the Tentacle. You can access the game from the computer located in Weird Ed Edison room in the present. You can go there at any moment in the game and then continue playing from the moment you stopped.
