Company of Heroes: Quick beginner's guide

Below you will find some tips for players who are just starting their adventure with Company of Heroes.

1. Queuing up orders: it is recommended to use the queuing system (Shift + mouse click) so that your soldiers will, for example, take over various points in the desired order;
2. Retreat: when the health of your infantry falls below 50% and you do not see a chance to win the battle, consider ordering your troops to retreat. Getting an entirely new infantry unit will be expensive;
3. Cover: remember not to leave your units out in the open because they can become an easy target for the enemy. Make sure that the units are hidden behind some kind of cover, such as trees, bushes, fences;
4. Mines: place them at sensitive points such as crossroads or along potential escape routes;
5. Avoid grouping units: do not place all units in one building. When it collapses, your entire army will get buried;
6. Anti-tank guns: it is best to locate them behind obstacles (buildings, hedges), sideways to the direction from which enemy tanks will come. Before they know it, it might be too late for them.

Company of Heroes: Game length

Your total play time in Company of Heroes will vary significantly depending on whether you already have experience with RTS games (real-time strategy). Speedrunners, who will focus only on completing the story as quickly as possible, might see the end credits after about 15 hours. If you enjoy a calmer gameplay, you will spend up to 30 hours playing Company of Heroes.
